About 100 years ago most sugar in your household would have been cone shaped. That was the way sugar came from the refinery to your local grocery store.
Today only a few select European sugar refineries still make the traditional sugar cone, for the sole purpose of being the centre piece in Feuerzangenbowle (Hot Fire Tongs Punch) – Germany’s traditional culinary celebration of Winter and the Holiday Season.
